iRest Meditation
The iRest® Meditation process consists of ten essential steps. It begins with setting intentions, followed by cultivating a genuine aspiration. Participants tap into their inner resources and become aware of bodily sensations. The practice includes focusing on breath and vital energy, as well as exploring emotions and feelings. It encourages contemplation of thoughts and visualizations, leading to a sense of joy and overall well-being. Importantly, iRest emphasizes being with what is, finding resiliency in life, and fostering a sense of ease while welcoming wellbeing and inner harmony. This approach helps balance emotions, ease anxiety, and address PTSD, while bringing awareness to the healing process.
iRest is deeply influenced by the teachings of Tantra (Sanskrit: tan, meaning “extending everywhere”). This rich tradition encompasses a wide range of techniques aimed at restoring our innate understanding of our Essential Nature. Unlike philosophical intellectualism or second-hand information, both iRest and Tantra focus on first-hand knowing, freeing us from psychological, familial, and cultural conditioning.
During iRest, we systematically investigate the beliefs that shape our personal identities. For example, we often perceive ourselves as solid and separate beings existing in an external world independent of us; however, we may never have fully examined the reality of these beliefs. iRest invites us to explore our first-hand knowing to better understand the nature of reality, who we truly are, and what the world really is.
This practice helps us investigate and dissolve the roots of conditioned beliefs that contribute to our misperceptions of reality. By doing so, iRest removes the barriers to living an authentic life filled with purpose, meaning, and value. For those seeking deeper understanding, iRest awakens us to the possibility of living an enlightened life, fully aware of our underlying Essential Nature.
iRest also reveals that every situation is accompanied by its perfect response. When we engage with our harmonious responses, we experience a profound sense of freedom, delight, and astonishment at the perfection of each moment.
Key concepts such as Sankalpa, Annamaya, Pranamaya, Manomaya, Vijñanamaya, Anandamaya, Asmitamaya, and Sahaj further enrich this transformative practice.
